PORTAGE, Wis. (WFRV) – A woman in Wisconsin was recently arrested after her 23-month-old child showed signs of impairment and tested positive for methamphetamine, officials say.
According to a release from the Portage Police Department, officers were made aware on Wednesday, May 21, of a child exhibiting signs of impairment.
The almost two-year-old was taken and treated in the Emergency Room at the St. Claire Hospital in Baraboo, where they also tested positive for methamphetamine, a powerful and highly addictive stimulant drug.

A search of the child’s mother’s home ensued, and police say they found methamphetamine and other various items of methamphetamine paraphernalia.
Following the search of her home, 33-year-old Rebecca L. Kreier from Portage was arrested on the following charges:
- Child Neglect – Felony
- Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety – Felony
- Possession of Methamphetamine – Felony
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
- Probation Violation
